Founded by two friends who shared similar interests in sports and 80s pop culture, Kobra Kai Sports was born in the Fall of 2007. The first team fielded was a football team that competed in the Social Sports of Bethesda (SSB) league. That team went 4-4 and made it to the second round of the playoffs.

In the Fall of 2008 a volleyball squad was organized, also with SSB. Incredibly the team went 8-0 in the regular season and were heavily favored to win it all. Alas, missing two of their best setters the team made it to the second round but ran out of gas.

The Spring 2008 SSB football season started with a new QB and change in philosophy. That led to an improved 6-2 season with the team going into the playoffs with great momentum. Unfortunately some bad breaks led to an early first round exit.

The inaugural SSB softball team started play in the Summer of 2008. With many of the players not having played softball in years and in some cases never before, the team struggled before showing signs of improvement and finished 3-5.

Currently, Kobra Kai Sports is involved in the SSB Fall 2008 football season and the Rockville SportsPlex Fall 2008 volleyball season.
